31 | 31 | | exempt from s. 286.011, Florida Statutes, and s. 24(b), Art. I 18 |

32 | 32 | | of the State Constitution. This section is subject to the Open 19 |

33 | 33 | | Government Sunset Review Act in accordance with s. 119.15, 20 |

34 | 34 | | Florida Statutes, an d shall stand repealed on October 2, 2028, 21 |

56 | 56 | | reasons for high crime and gun violence incidents in urban and 31 |

57 | 57 | | inner-city neighborhoods and communities and to develop 32 |

58 | 58 | | recommendations for system improvements. In order to fulfill its 33 |

59 | 59 | | directive, the commission must be able to d iscuss exempt or 34 |
---|
60 | 60 | | confidential and exempt information that it receives as part of 35 |
---|
61 | 61 | | its investigation. The public meetings exemption will allow the 36 |
---|
62 | 62 | | commission to review and discuss exempt or confidential and 37 |
---|
63 | 63 | | exempt information that will be useful in forming m eaningful 38 |
---|
64 | 64 | | recommendations for system improvements. As such, it is a 39 |
---|
65 | 65 | | necessity that those portions of meetings at which exempt or 40 |
---|
66 | 66 | | confidential and exempt information is discussed be made exempt 41 |
---|
67 | 67 | | from public meetings requirements. If such portions of those 42 |
---|
68 | 68 | | meetings are not closed, the public records exemption would be 43 |
---|
69 | 69 | | negated. Thus, the Legislature finds that the public meetings 44 |
---|
70 | 70 | | exemption is a public necessity in order to ensure the effective 45 |
---|
71 | 71 | | and efficient administration of the Commission on Public Safety 46 |
---|
72 | 72 | | in Urban and Inner-City Communities. 47 |
---|
73 | 73 | | Section 3. This act shall take effect on the same date 48 |
---|
74 | 74 | | that HB 495 or similar legislation takes effect , if such 49 |
---|
75 | 75 | | legislation is adopted in the same legislative session or an 50 |
