17	17	WHEREAS, the people of Iran have the right to live in a 6
18	18	safe, democratic country that is free of religious persecution 7
19	19	and extremism, and 8
20	20	WHEREAS, the heroism displayed by the people of Iran is 9
21	21	inspirational, and those protesting on the streets deserve our 10
22	22	full attention and support as they call for women, life, and 11
23	23	freedom, and 12
24	24	WHEREAS, the people of Iran are calling for a new 13
25	25	government that is democratically elected, free, and where the 14
26	26	people have the right to self -determination, and 15
27	27	WHEREAS, according to the United States -based human rights 16
28	28	monitor Human Rights Activists News Agency, at least 469 people, 17
29	29	including 63 children and 32 women, have been killed since 18
30	30	demonstrations began in Iran on September 17th, 2022, and 19
31	31	thousands of people have been arrested, and 20
32	32	WHEREAS, the protests began after the brutal murder of 21
33	33	Mahsa "Jina" Amini by the morality police for not wearing her 22
34	34	hijab correctly, and 23
35	35	WHEREAS, the activism of millions worldwide has resulted in 24
36	36	the Islamic Republic of Iran's removal from the United Nations 25 

47	47	Women's Commission, and an independent investigation has been 26
48	48	launched by the United Nations into the ongoing deadly violence 27
49	49	against protesters in Iran, and 28
50	50	WHEREAS, the United States is encouraged to stop all 29
51	51	discussions on the Iran nuclear agreement, formally known as the 30
52	52	Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, to continue to sanction 31
53	53	members of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic 32
54	54	Revolutionary Guard Corps, and to continue to amplify the voices 33
55	55	and the will of the people of Iran by maintaining Internet 34
56	56	access so that Iranians may continue to expose the injustices of 35
57	57	their daily lives, and 36
58	58	WHEREAS, federal representatives should continue to push 37
59	59	the United Nations' investigative mechanism for crimes against 38
60	60	humanity committed by Iran and demand the end of u nlawful 39
61	61	imprisonment and execution in Iran, and 40
62	62	WHEREAS, as the fearless people of Iran continue to take to 41
63	63	the streets, the call for unity among all Americans in support 42
64	64	of the people of Iran should continue to be amplified, NOW, 43

67	67	Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 46

69	69	That the Congress of the United States is urged to stand in 48
70	70	support of the fight for freedom of the people of Iran. 49 
