An act relating to the Lake Padgett Estates 2 
Independent Special District, Pasco County; amending 3 
chapter 2006-317, Laws of Florida; revising the terms 4 
of certain members elected to the board of supervisors 5 
of the district to provide for staggered terms; 6 
providing an effective date. 7 
 8 
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 
 10 
 Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 4 of chapter 2006 -11 
317, Laws of Florida, is amended to read: 12 
 Section 4.  Initial governing board; board of supervisors; 13 
members and meetings; organization; powers; duties; terms of 14 
office; related election requirements. — 15 
 (3)  Members of the board of supervisors shall be k nown as 16 
supervisors and, upon entering into office, shall take and 17 
subscribe to the oath of office as prescribed by section 876.05, 18 
Florida Statutes. Members of the board shall be subject to 19 
ethics and conflict of interest laws of the state that apply to 20 
all local public officers. They shall hold office for terms of 2 21 
years each and until their successors are chosen and qualified. 22 
Effective November 2024, candidates seeking to run for 23 
membership on the board shall be elected as follows: 24 
 (a)  Candidates for seats 1 and 2 shall be elected on a 25

one-time basis for an initial term of 2 years each, after which, 26 
commencing in 2026, candidates for seats 1 and 2 shall be 27 
elected for a term of 4 years each. 28 
 (b)  Candidates for seats 3, 4, and 5 shall be elected for 29 
a term of 4 years each. 30 
 (c)  Commencing with the November 2026 general election, 31 
all board members shall hold office for a term of 4 years each 32 
until their successors are chosen and qualified. 33 
 34 
If, during the term of office, a vacancy occurs, the remainin g 35 
members of the board shall fill each vacancy by an appointment 36 
for the remainder of the unexpired term. 37 
 Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2023. 38
