Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 7

Section 1. Section 257.42, Florida Statutes, is amended to 9
read: 10
257.42 Library cooperative grants.—The administrative unit 11
of a library cooperative is eligi ble to receive an annual grant 12
from the state of not more than $400,000 for the purpose of 13
sharing library resources based upon an annual plan of service 14
and expenditure and an annually updated 5 -year, long-range plan 15
of cooperative library resource sharin g. Those plans, which must 16
include a component describing how the cooperative will share 17
technology and the use of technology, must be submitted to the 18
division of Library and Information Services of the Department 19
of State for evaluation and possible reco mmendation for funding 20
in the division's legislative budget request. Grant funds may 21
not be used to supplant local funds or other funds. A library 22
cooperative must provide from local sources matching cash funds 23
equal to 10 percent of the grant award. 24
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023. 25
