2727 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 14

2929 Section 1. Section 460.408, Florida Statutes, is amended 16
3030 to read: 17
3131 460.408 Continuing chiropractic education. — 18
3232 (1) The board shall require licensees to periodically 19
3333 demonstrate their professional competence as a condition of 20
3434 renewal of a license by completing up to 4 0 contact classroom 21
3535 hours of continuing education. 22
3636 (a) Continuing education courses sponsored by chiropractic 23
3737 colleges whose graduates are eligible for examination under any 24
3838 provision of this chapter may be approved upon review by the 25

5151 board if all other requirements of board rules setting forth 26
5252 criteria for course approval are met. 27
5353 (b) The board shall approve those courses that build upon 28
5454 the basic courses required for the practice of chiropractic 29
5555 medicine, and the board may also approve courses in adju nctive 30
5656 modalities. Courses that consist of instruction in the use, 31
5757 application, prescription, recommendation, or administration of 32
5858 a specific company's brand of products or services are not 33
5959 eligible for approval. 34
6060 (c) The board may not limit the number of approved 35
6161 continuing education hours that may be completed through 36
6262 distance learning. 37
6363 (2) The board may provide exceptions to make exception 38
6464 from the requirements of this section in emergency or hardship 39
6565 cases and during a declared state of emergency in the state. 40
6666 (3) Courses shall be taught by a speaker or lecturer with 41
6767 at least one of the following qualifications: 42
6868 (a) Holds a post-graduate degree, or bachelor's degree 43
6969 with at least 2 years' experience in the subject matter taught; 44
7070 (b) Is a current faculty member of a chiropractic college 45
7171 or school maintaining a standard and reputability approved by 46
7272 the board or is a current faculty member at a medical or 47
7373 osteopathic college or a university accredited by, or having 48
7474 status with, an agency or its suc cessors recognized and approved 49
7575 by the United States Office of Education or the Council on Post -50

8989 (c) Is a post-graduate level instructor of a chiropractic 52
9090 college or school maintaining a standard and reputability 53
9191 approved by the board, or a post-graduate level instructor at a 54
9292 medical or osteopathic college or a university accredited by, or 55
9393 has status with, an agency or its successor which is recognized 56
9494 and approved by the United States Department of Education or the 57
9595 Office of Post-Secondary Education. 58
9696 (4)(3) The board shall may adopt rules required to 59
9797 implement within the requirements of this section that are 60
9898 necessary for its implementation . 61
9999 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023. 62
