17	17		requirements for an applicant for licensure as a 4

20	20		Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 7

22	22		Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (6) of section 9
23	23		458.347, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 10
24	24		458.347 Physician assistants. — 11
25	25		(6) PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT LICENSURE. — 12
26	26		(a) Any person desiring to be licensed as a physician 13
27	27		assistant must apply to the department. The department shall 14
28	28		issue a license to any person certified by the council as having 15
29	29		met all of the following requirements: 16
30	30		1. Is at least 18 years of age. 17
31	31		2. Has completed graduated from an approved program. 18
32	32		a. For an applicant who matriculated graduated after 19
33	33		December 31, 2020, has received a master's degree in accordance 20
34	34		with the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for t he 21
35	35		Physician Assistant or, before 2001, its equivalent or 22
36	36		predecessor organization . 23
37	37		b. For an applicant who matriculated graduated on or 24
38	38		before December 31, 2020, has received a bachelor's or master's 25

52	52		c. For an applicant who graduated before July 1, 1994, has 27
53	53		graduated from an approved program of instruction in primary 28
54	54		health care or surgery. 29
55	55		d. For an applicant who graduated before July 1, 1983, has 30
56	56		received a certification as a physician assistant from the 31
57	57		boards. 32
58	58		e. The board may also grant a license to an applicant who 33
59	59		does not meet the educational requirement specified in this 34
60	60		subparagraph but who has passed the Physician Assistant National 35
61	61		Certifying Examination administered by the National Commission 36
62	62		on Certification of Physician Assistants before 1986. 37
63	63		3. Has obtained a passing score as established by the 38
64	64		National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or 39
65	65		its equivalent or successor organization and has been nationally 40
66	66		certified. If an applicant does not hold a current certificate 41
67	67		issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician 42
68	68		Assistants or its equivalent or successor organization and has 43
69	69		not actively practiced as a physician assistant within the 44
70	70		immediately preceding 4 years, the applicant must retake and 45
71	71		successfully complete the entry -level examination of the 46
72	72		National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or 47
73	73		its equivalent or successor organization to be eligible for 48
74	74		licensure. 49

89	89		application for licensure as a physician assistant must include: 52
90	90		a. A diploma from an approved program. 53
91	91		b. Acknowledgment of any prior felony convictions. 54
92	92		c. Acknowledgment of any previous revocation or denial of 55
93	93		licensure or certification in any state. 56
94	94		Section 2. Paragraph (a) of subsection (6) of section 57
95	95		459.022, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 58
96	96		459.022 Physician assistants. — 59
97	97		(6) PHYSICIAN ASSIST ANT LICENSURE.— 60
