HR 8009 2023 hr8009-00 Page 1 of 3 F L O R I D A H O U S E O F R E P R E S E N T A T I V E S House Resolution 1 A resolution recognizing Major General James O. 2 Eifert, the Adjutant General of Florida, on the 3 occasion of his retirement on April 22, 2023. 4 5 WHEREAS, in 1982, following his graduation and 6 commissioning from the United States Air Force Academy, Major 7 General James O. Eifert began his active duty military career as 8 a fighter jet pilot, a position he would hold for 13 years, and 9 WHEREAS, in 1995, Major General Eifert joined the Florida 10 Air National Guard as an F -15 Weapons and Tactics Officer, and 11 since then he has held numerous positions including Commander of 12 the 125th Operations Group, Vice Commander and Commander of the 13 125th Fighter Wing, Ass istant Adjutant General -Air, and 14 Commander of the Florida Air National Guard, and 15 WHEREAS, Major General Eifert served as the Air National 16 Guard Assistant to the Commander, Pacific Air Forces, and 17 WHEREAS, as the chair of both the Air Dominance Weapons 18 Systems Council and the National Strategic Planning System Force 19 Structure Committee, Major General Eifert worked F -15/F-22 20 issues and concerns nationwide and advised the Deputy Director 21 of the Air National Guard on roles and missions, respectively, 22 and 23 WHEREAS, Major General Eifert also served on the National 24 Guard Counterdrug Program General Officer Advisory Council, on 25 HR 8009 2023 hr8009-00 Page 2 of 3 F L O R I D A H O U S E O F R E P R E S E N T A T I V E S the Air National Guard Strategic Planning System as a TAG Senior 26 Advisor, and on the Florida Defense Support Task Force as the 27 Governor's representative, and 28 WHEREAS, over the course of his prominent military career, 29 Major General Eifert has flown more than 3,800 hours, including 30 63 combat hours, and has received numerous awards and 31 decorations, including the Air Force Distinguished Servic e 32 Medal, Legion of Merit, and Meritorious Service Medal with three 33 oak leaf clusters, among numerous others, and 34 WHEREAS, during his tenure as the Adjutant General of 35 Florida, Major General Eifert provided exemplary guidance and 36 leadership during two majo r hurricanes, several lesser 37 hurricanes and natural disasters, and an unprecedented response 38 to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 39 WHEREAS, through his tireless energy and commitment, Major 40 General Eifert contributed immeasurably to the readiness and 41 well-being of members of the Air National Guard and the 42 Department of Military Affairs, and 43 WHEREAS, Major General Eifert will retire from his 44 distinguished military career on April 22, 2023, NOW, THEREFORE, 45 46 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the St ate of 47 Florida: 48 49 HR 8009 2023 hr8009-00 Page 3 of 3 F L O R I D A H O U S E O F R E P R E S E N T A T I V E S That Major General James O.
