An act relating to the Town of Orchid, Indian River 2
County; providing legislative intent; providing an 3
exception to general law; authorizing the Town of 4
Orchid in Indian River County to hold public meetings 5
within specified mileage of its jurisdictional 6
boundary under certain circumstances; providing an 7
effective date. 8

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 10

Section 1. (1) The Legislature finds that the Town of 12
Orchid in Indian River County currently owns no public meeting 13
facilities within its jurisdiction and has no reasonable 14
prospects for doing so in the future. 15
(2) Notwithstanding s. 166.0213(1), Florida Statutes, the 16
Town of Orchid in Indian River County may hold public meetings 17
within 5 miles of its exterior jurisdictional boundary as long 18
as its resident population does not exceed 1,250 persons. 19
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. 20
