2828 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 15

3030 Section 1. Section 4 60.408, Florida Statutes, is amended 17
3131 to read: 18
3232 460.408 Continuing chiropractic education. — 19
3333 (1) The board shall require licensees to periodically 20
3434 demonstrate their professional competence as a condition of 21
3535 renewal of a license by completing up to 40 contact classroom 22
3636 hours of continuing education. 23
3737 (a) Continuing education courses sponsored by chiropractic 24
3838 colleges whose graduates are eligible for examination under any 25

5151 provision of this chapter may be approved upon review by the 26
5252 board if all other requir ements of board rules setting forth 27
5353 criteria for course approval are met. 28
5454 (b) The board shall approve those courses that build upon 29
5555 the basic courses required for the practice of chiropractic 30
5656 medicine, and the board may also approve courses in adjunctive 31
5757 modalities. Courses that consist of instruction in the use, 32
5858 application, prescription, recommendation, or administration of 33
5959 a specific company's brand of products or services are not 34
6060 eligible for approval. 35
6161 (c) The board may not limit the number of appro ved 36
6262 continuing education hours that may be completed through 37
6363 distance learning. 38
6464 (2) The board may provide exceptions to make exception 39
6565 from the requirements of this section in emergency or hardship 40
6666 cases and during a declared state of emergency . 41
6767 (3) Continuing education courses shall be taught by an 42
6868 instructor with at least one of the following qualifications: 43
6969 (a) Holds a postgraduate degree, or bachelor's degree with 44
7070 at least 2 years' experience in the subject matter taught. 45
7171 (b) Is a current facult y member of a chiropractic college 46
7272 or school maintaining a standard and reputability approved by 47
7373 the board or is a current faculty member at a medical or an 48
7474 osteopathic college or a university accredited by, or having 49
7575 status with, an accrediting body recog nized by the Council for 50
