2424 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florid a: 11

2626 Section 1. Subsection (7) of section 1001.43, Florida 13
2727 Statutes, is amended to read: 14
2828 1001.43 Supplemental powers and duties of district school 15
2929 board.—The district school board may exercise the following 16
3030 supplemental powers and duties as authorized by this code or 17
3131 State Board of Education rule. 18
3232 (7) FIRST AID AND EMERGENCIES. —The district school board : 19
3333 (a) May adopt programs and policies to ensure appropriate 20
3434 response in emergency situations; the provision of first aid to 21
3535 individuals, the student body, and school personnel; and the 22
3636 effective management of student illness, which programs and 23
3737 policies may include, but are not limited to: 24
3838 1.(a) The provision of first aid and emergency medical 25

5353 2.(b) The provision of school safety patrol. 28
5454 3.(c) Procedures for reporting hazards, including threats 29
5555 of nature, bomb threats, threatening messages, and similar 30
5656 occurrences, and the provision of warning systems including 31
5757 alarm systems and other technical devices. 32
5858 4.(d) Procedures for evacuating the classrooms, 33
5959 playground, or any other district facility. 34
6060 5.(e) Procedures for reporting accidents, including 35
6161 traffic accidents and traffic violations involving district -36
6262 owned vehicles. 37
6363 6.(f) Student insurance programs. 38
6464 (b) Shall adopt a policy requiring school personnel to be 39
6565 certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with an 40
6666 emphasis placed on the certification of personnel involved in 41
6767 school athletics or food service to enable per sonnel to respond 42
6868 to a health emergency before the arrival of emergency 43
6969 responders. The policy shall provide for the percentage of 44
7070 school personnel who must be certified in CPR and for the 45
7171 staggered implementation of such requirement as follows: 46
7272 1. For the 2025-2026 school year, school personnel at high 47
7373 schools within the district must be certified in cardiopulmonary 48
7474 resuscitation. 49

9090 3. For the 2027-2028 school year, school personnel at high 53
9191 schools, middle schools, and elementary schools within the 54
9292 district must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. 55
9393 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 56
