An act relating to security for Jewish day schools and 2 
preschools; creating s. 1001.2921, F.S.; subject to 3 
and consistent with funds appropriated from the 4 
General Appropriations Act, requiring the Department 5 
of Education to establish a program to provide funds 6 
to full-time Jewish day schools and preschools for 7 
specified security purposes; providing authorized uses 8 
for such funds; authorizing the State Board of 9 
Education to adopt rules to administer this section; 10 
providing an effective date. 11

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 13 
 14 
 Section 1.  Section 1001.2921, Florida Statutes, is created 15 
to read: 16 
 1001.2921  Security funding for Je wish day schools and 17 
preschools.— 18 
 (1)  As authorized by and consistent with funds 19 
appropriated in the General Appropriations Act, the Department 20 
of Education shall establish a program to provide funds to make 21 
full-time Jewish day schools and preschools in the state secure 22 
with professional security hardening, as needed, to better 23 
secure facilities of such schools and preschools and to protect 24 
their students. Based on a risk assessment by law enforcement or 25

a private security company, recurring funds shall be used 26 
towards: 27 
 (a)  The purchase and installation of security cameras, 28 
perimeter lighting, perimeter fencing, and shatter -resistant 29 
glass for windows. 30 
 (b)  Hiring or contracting with security personnel who are 31 
licensed and regulated by the state and in sured. 32 
 (c)  Expenses relating to transportation to minimize 33 
security exposure of staff, parents, and students. 34 
 (d)  Other nonhardening security measures, including, but 35 
not limited to providing professional detection, prevention, and 36 
security services to such schools and preschools. 37 
 (2)  The State Board of Education may adopt rules to 38 
administer this section. 39 
 Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 40
