banks have the same immunity from taxation as 4
specified credit unions; providing a definition of 5
"community bank"; providing an effective date. 6

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 213.12, Florida 10
Statutes, is amended to read: 11
213.12 Certain state-chartered financial institutions; 12
immunity from certain state and local taxes. — 13
(2)(a) All credit unions and community banks now or 14
hereafter chartered under the laws of the state shall have the 15
same immunity from state and local taxation that fede rally 16
chartered credit unions have from time to time under the 17
statutes of the United States. 18
(b) For purposes of this subsection, "community bank" 19
means a bank which: 20
1. Does not have a federal charter and is not chartered or 21
licensed in any other sta te; or 22
2. Has a federal charter and is headquartered only in this 23
state. 24
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 25
