24	24	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11

26	26	Section 1. Subsection (9) of section 1003.4282, Florida 13
27	27	Statutes, is amended to read: 14
28	28	1003.4282 Requirements for a standard high school 15
29	29	diploma.— 16
30	30	(9) CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION GRADUATION PATHWAY 17
31	31	OPTION.—Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, A student is 18
32	32	eligible to complete an alternative pathway to earning a 19
33	33	standard high school diploma through the Career and Technical 20
34	34	Education (CTE) pathway option. Receipt of a standard high 21
35	35	school diploma awarded through the CTE pathway option requires 22
36	36	the student's successful completion of at least 18 credits. A 23
37	37	student completing the CTE pathway option must earn at least a 24
38	38	cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. 25

51	51	(a) In order for a student to satisfy the req uirements of 26
52	52	the CTE pathway option, he or she must meet the GPA requirement 27
53	53	and: 28
54	54	1. Meet the requirements in paragraphs (3)(a) -(d) and, 29
55	55	additionally, for students entering grade 9 in the 2023 -2024 30
56	56	school year and thereafter, paragraph (3)(h) . For purposes of 31
57	57	earning a standard high school diploma pursuant to this 32
58	58	subsection, a student may meet the Algebra 1 EOC assessment 33
59	59	requirement in paragraph (3)(b) by earning a 97 or higher on the 34
60	60	Mathematics Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) ; 35
61	61	2. Complete two credits in career and technical education. 36
62	62	The courses must result in a program completion and an industry 37
63	63	certification; and 38
64	64	3.a. For a student who enters grade 9 before the 2023 -2024 39
65	65	school year, complete two credits in electives or work -based 40
66	66	learning programs. A one -half credit in financial literacy may 41
67	67	be included in the two credits of electives; or 42
68	68	b. For a student who enters grade 9 in the 2023 -2024 43
69	69	school year and thereafter, complete one and one -half credits in 44
70	70	electives or work-based learning programs. 45
71	71	(b) Each district school board shall incorporate the CTE 46
72	72	pathway option to graduation in the student progression plan 47
73	73	required under s. 1008.25. 48
74	74	(c) Adjunct educators certified pursuant to s. 1012.57 may 49
75	75	teach courses in the CTE p athway option. 50
