A bill to be entitled 1 
An act relating to automated external defibrillators 2 
at parks and youth recreation or sports facilities; 3 
creating ss. 125.0295 and 166.0496, F.S.; requiring 4 
functioning automated external defibrillators be on 5 
the premises of specified facilities; providing 6 
requirements for the training and location 7 
registration of such defibrillators; providing 8 
immunity from liability; providing an effective date. 9 
 10 
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 
 12 
 Section 1.  Section 125.0295, Florida Statutes, is created 13 
to read: 14 
 125.0295  Automated external defibrillator required for 15 
parks and youth recreation or sports facilities owned or 16 
operated by a county.— 17 
 (1)  Each park and youth recreation or sports facility 18 
owned or operated by a county shall have on the premises at all 19 
times a functioning automated external defibrillator. 20 
 (2)  Each park and youth recreation or sports facility 21 
owned or operated by a county shall ensure that employees and 22 
volunteers at such parks and facilities are properly trained in 23 
accordance with s. 401.2915(2)(a) and shall notify the local 24 
emergency medical services medical director or the local public 25

safety answering point, as defined in s. 365.172(3), of the 26 
location of each automated external defibrillator at such parks 27 
and facilities. 28 
 (3)  A volunteer who uses an automated external 29 
defibrillator to render emergency care or to respond in a 30 
perceived medical emergency is immun e from civil liability 31 
pursuant to ss. 768.13 and 768.1325. 32 
 Section 2.  Section 166.0496, Florida Statutes, is created 33 
to read: 34 
 166.0496  Automated external defibrillator required for 35 
municipality owned or operated parks and youth recreation or 36 
sports facilities.— 37 
 (1)  Each municipality owned or operated park and youth 38 
recreation or sports facility must have on the premises at all 39 
times a functioning automated external defibrillator. 40 
 (2)  A municipality that provides an automated external 41 
defibrillator shall ensure that employees and volunteers are 42 
properly trained in accordance with s. 401.2915. 43 
 (3)  The location of each automated external defibrillator 44 
shall be registered with a local emergency medical services 45 
medical director. 46 
 (4)  The use of automated external defibrillators by 47 
volunteers shall be covered under the provisions of ss. 768.13 48 
and 768.1325. 49 
 Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 50
