24	24	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11

26	26	Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subsection (1) of section 13
27	27	472.0101, Florida Statutes, is amended, and paragraph (d) of 14
28	28	that subsection is republished, to read: 15
29	29	472.0101 Foreign-trained professionals; special 16
30	30	examination and license provisions. — 17
31	31	(1) When not otherwise provided by law, the department 18
32	32	shall by rule provide procedures under which exiled 19
33	33	professionals may be examined under this chapter. A person is 20
34	34	eligible for the examination if the exiled professional: 21
35	35	(d) Demonstrates to the department, through submission of 22
36	36	documentation verified by the applicant's respective 23
37	37	professional association in exile, that the applicant was 24
38	38	graduated with an appropriate professional or occupational 25

51	51	degree from a college or university. However, the department may 26
52	52	not require receipt of any documentation from the Republic of 27
53	53	Cuba as a condition of eligibility under this section; 28
54	54	(e) Lawfully practiced the profession for at least 3 29
55	55	years. Such practice of the profession may b e substituted for 30
56	56	the professional or occupational degree requirement under 31
57	57	paragraph (d); 32
58	58	Section 2. Subsection (2) of section 472.013, Florida 33
59	59	Statutes, is amended to read: 34
60	60	472.013 Examinations, prerequisites. — 35
61	61	(2) An applicant shall be entitled to take the licensure 36
62	62	examination to practice in this state as a surveyor and mapper 37
63	63	if the applicant is of good moral character and has satisfied 38
64	64	one of the following requirements: 39
65	65	(a) The applicant has received a bachelor's degree, its 40
66	66	equivalent, or higher in surveying and mapping or a similarly 41
67	67	titled program, including, but not limited to, geomatics, 42
68	68	geomatics engineering, and land surveying, from a college or 43
69	69	university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the 44
70	70	United States Department of Education board and has a specific 45
71	71	experience record of 4 or more years as a subordinate to a 46
72	72	professional surveyor and mapper in the active practice of 47
73	73	surveying and mapping, which experience is of a nature 48
74	74	indicating that the applicant was in responsible charge of the 49
75	75	accuracy and correctness of the surveying and mapping work 50

88	88	performed. Work experience acquired as a part of the education 51
89	89	requirement may not be construed as experience in responsible 52
90	90	charge. 53
91	91	(b) The applicant has received a bachelor's deg ree, its 54
92	92	equivalent, or higher in a course of study, other than in 55
93	93	surveying and mapping, at a an accredited college or university 56
94	94	accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the United 57
95	95	States Department of Education and has a specific experience 58
96	96	record of 6 or more years as a subordinate to a registered 59
97	97	surveyor and mapper in the active practice of surveying and 60
98	98	mapping, 5 years of which shall be of a nature indicating that 61
99	99	the applicant was in responsible charge of the accuracy and 62
100	100	correctness of the surveying and mapping work performed. The 63
101	101	applicant must have completed a minimum of 25 semester hours 64
102	102	from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body 65
103	103	recognized by the United States Department of Education approved 66
104	104	by the board in surveying and mapping subjects or in any 67
105	105	combination of courses in civil engineering, surveying, mapping, 68
106	106	mathematics, photogrammetry, forestry, or land law and the 69
107	107	physical sciences. Any of the required 25 semester hours of 70
108	108	study completed not as a part of the bac helor's degree, its 71
109	109	equivalent, or higher may be approved at the discretion of the 72
110	110	board. Work experience acquired as a part of the education 73
111	111	requirement may not be construed as experience in responsible 74

125	125	(c) The applicant has received an associat e degree and has 76
126	126	a specific experience record of at least 6 years as a 77
127	127	subordinate to a professional surveyor and mapper in the active 78
128	128	practice of surveying and mapping, at least 5 years of which 79
129	129	shall be of a nature indicating that the applicant was in 80
130	130	responsible charge of the accuracy and correctness of the 81
131	131	surveying and mapping work performed. The applicant must have 82
132	132	completed at least 25 semester hours from a college or 83
133	133	university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the 84
134	134	United States Depart ment of Education in surveying and mapping 85
135	135	subjects or in any combination of courses in civil engineering, 86
136	136	surveying, mapping, mathematics, photogrammetry, forestry, or 87
137	137	land law and the physical sciences. Work experience acquired as 88
138	138	a part of the education requirement may not be construed as 89
139	139	experience in responsible charge. 90
140	140	(d) The applicant has received a high school diploma or 91
141	141	its equivalent and has a specific experience record of at least 92
142	142	6 years as a subordinate to a professional surveyor and mapper 93
143	143	in the active practice of surveying and mapping, at least 5 94
144	144	years of which shall be of a nature indicating that the 95
145	145	applicant was in responsible charge of the accuracy and 96
146	146	correctness of the surveying and mapping work performed. The 97
147	147	applicant must have com pleted at least 25 semester hours from a 98
148	148	college or university accredited by an accrediting body 99
149	149	recognized by the United States Department of Education in 100

167	167	(e) The applicant holds a valid license to practice 106
168	168	surveying and mapping in another state, jurisdiction, or 107
169	169	territory, and has at least 2 years of experience in the active 108
170	170	practice of surveying and mapping, which experience is of a 109
171	171	nature indicating that the applicant was in responsible charge 110
172	172	of the accuracy and correctness of the surveying and mapping 111
173	173	work performed. 112
174	174	(f) The applicant has received a registered apprenticeship 113
175	175	certificate in surveying and mapping after completing a 114
176	176	registered apprenticeship program approved by the Department of 115
177	177	Education and has a specified experience record of at least 2 116
178	178	years as a subordinate to a professional surveyor and mapper in 117
179	179	the active practice of surveying and mapping, which experience 118
180	180	is of a nature indicating that the applicant was in responsible 119
181	181	charge of the accuracy and correctness of the surveying and 120
182	182	mapping work performed. Work experience acquired as a part of 121
183	183	the education requirement may not be construed as experience in 122
184	184	responsible charge. 123
185	185	Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 124
