2424 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11

2626 Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subsection (1) of section 13
2727 472.0101, Florida Statutes, is amended, and paragraph (d) of 14
2828 that subsection is republished, to read: 15
2929 472.0101 Foreign-trained professionals; special 16
3030 examination and license provisions. — 17
3131 (1) When not otherwise provided by law, the department 18
3232 shall by rule provide procedures under which exiled 19
3333 professionals may be examined under this chapter. A person is 20
3434 eligible for the examination if the exiled professional: 21
3535 (d) Demonstrates to the department, through submission of 22
3636 documentation verified by the applicant's respective 23
3737 professional association in exile, that the applicant was 24
3838 graduated with an appropriate professional or occupational 25

5252 not require receipt of any documentation from the Republic of 27
5353 Cuba as a condition of eligibility under this section; 28
5454 (e) Lawfully practiced the profession for at least 3 29
5555 years. Such practice of the profession may b e substituted for 30
5656 the professional or occupational degree requirement under 31
5757 paragraph (d); 32
5858 Section 2. Subsection (2) of section 472.013, Florida 33
5959 Statutes, is amended to read: 34
6060 472.013 Examinations, prerequisites. — 35
6161 (2) An applicant shall be entitled to take the licensure 36
6262 examination to practice in this state as a surveyor and mapper 37
6363 if the applicant is of good moral character and has satisfied 38
6464 one of the following requirements: 39
6565 (a) The applicant has received a bachelor's degree, its 40
6666 equivalent, or higher in surveying and mapping or a similarly 41
6767 titled program, including, but not limited to, geomatics, 42
6868 geomatics engineering, and land surveying, from a college or 43
6969 university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the 44
7070 United States Department of Education board and has a specific 45
7171 experience record of 4 or more years as a subordinate to a 46
7272 professional surveyor and mapper in the active practice of 47
7373 surveying and mapping, which experience is of a nature 48
7474 indicating that the applicant was in responsible charge of the 49
7575 accuracy and correctness of the surveying and mapping work 50

9191 (b) The applicant has received a bachelor's deg ree, its 54
9292 equivalent, or higher in a course of study, other than in 55
9393 surveying and mapping, at a an accredited college or university 56
9494 accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the United 57
9595 States Department of Education and has a specific experience 58
9696 record of 6 or more years as a subordinate to a registered 59
9797 surveyor and mapper in the active practice of surveying and 60
9898 mapping, 5 years of which shall be of a nature indicating that 61
9999 the applicant was in responsible charge of the accuracy and 62
100100 correctness of the surveying and mapping work performed. The 63
101101 applicant must have completed a minimum of 25 semester hours 64
102102 from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body 65
103103 recognized by the United States Department of Education approved 66
104104 by the board in surveying and mapping subjects or in any 67
105105 combination of courses in civil engineering, surveying, mapping, 68
106106 mathematics, photogrammetry, forestry, or land law and the 69
107107 physical sciences. Any of the required 25 semester hours of 70
108108 study completed not as a part of the bac helor's degree, its 71
109109 equivalent, or higher may be approved at the discretion of the 72
110110 board. Work experience acquired as a part of the education 73
111111 requirement may not be construed as experience in responsible 74

125125 (c) The applicant has received an associat e degree and has 76
126126 a specific experience record of at least 6 years as a 77
127127 subordinate to a professional surveyor and mapper in the active 78
128128 practice of surveying and mapping, at least 5 years of which 79
129129 shall be of a nature indicating that the applicant was in 80
130130 responsible charge of the accuracy and correctness of the 81
131131 surveying and mapping work performed. The applicant must have 82
132132 completed at least 25 semester hours from a college or 83
133133 university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the 84
134134 United States Depart ment of Education in surveying and mapping 85
135135 subjects or in any combination of courses in civil engineering, 86
136136 surveying, mapping, mathematics, photogrammetry, forestry, or 87
137137 land law and the physical sciences. Work experience acquired as 88
138138 a part of the education requirement may not be construed as 89
139139 experience in responsible charge. 90
140140 (d) The applicant has received a high school diploma or 91
141141 its equivalent and has a specific experience record of at least 92
142142 6 years as a subordinate to a professional surveyor and mapper 93
143143 in the active practice of surveying and mapping, at least 5 94
144144 years of which shall be of a nature indicating that the 95
145145 applicant was in responsible charge of the accuracy and 96
146146 correctness of the surveying and mapping work performed. The 97
147147 applicant must have com pleted at least 25 semester hours from a 98
148148 college or university accredited by an accrediting body 99
149149 recognized by the United States Department of Education in 100

172172 of the accuracy and correctness of the surveying and mapping 111

174174 (f) The applicant has received a registered apprenticeship 113
175175 certificate in surveying and mapping after completing a 114
176176 registered apprenticeship program approved by the Department of 115
177177 Education and has a specified experience record of at least 2 116
178178 years as a subordinate to a professional surveyor and mapper in 117
179179 the active practice of surveying and mapping, which experience 118
180180 is of a nature indicating that the applicant was in responsible 119
181181 charge of the accuracy and correctness of the surveying and 120
182182 mapping work performed. Work experience acquired as a part of 121
183183 the education requirement may not be construed as experience in 122
184184 responsible charge. 123
185185 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 124
