An act relating to education in correctional 2
facilities for licensed professions; amending s. 3
944.801, F.S.; requiring the Correctional Education 4
Program to develop a plan in coordination with the 5
boards of professions within the Department of 6
Business and Professional Regulation, or the 7
department when there is no board, for inmates to take 8
classes for credit toward licensure requirements; 9
providing an effective date. 10

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12

Section 1. Paragraph (m) is added to subsection (3) of 14
section 944.801, Florida Statutes, to read: 15
944.801 Education for state prisoners. — 16
(3) The responsibilities of the Cor rectional Education 17
Program shall be to: 18
(m) Design and implement a plan, in coordination with the 19
relevant professional boards within the Department of Business 20
and Professional Regulation, or the Department of Business and 21
Professional Regulation when there is no board, to ensure that 22
inmates in a correctional institution who take classes that meet 23
the necessary curriculum requirements as determined by the 24
applicable law and rules for those professions shall receive 25

credit toward licensure requirements for the successful 26
completion of those classes. 27
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025. 28
