2121 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

2323 Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 365.171, Florida 10
2424 Statutes, is amended to read: 11
2525 365.171 Emergency communications state plan .— 12
2626 (3) DEFINITIONS.—As used in this section, the term: 13
2727 (a) "First responder" means any of the following persons 14
2828 who is a full-time paid employee, a part -time paid employee, or 15
2929 an unpaid volunteer: 16
3030 1. A correctional officer as defined in s. 943.10(2) . 17
3131 2. A federal law enforcement officer as defined in s. 18
3232 901.1505(1). 19
3333 3. A firefighter as defined in s. 633.102 . 20
3434 4. A law enforcement officer as defined in s. 943.10(1) . 21
3535 5. A paramedic or emergency medical technician as defined 22
3636 in s. 401.23. 23
3737 6. A 911 public safety telecommunicator as defined in s. 24

5151 (b) "Local government" means any city, county, or 26
5252 political subdivision of the state and its agencies. 27
5353 (c)(a) "Office" means the Division of Telecommunications 28
5454 within the Department of Mana gement Services, as designated by 29
5555 the secretary of the department. 30
5656 (d)(c) "Public agency" means the state and any city, 31
5757 county, city and county, municipal corporation, chartered 32
5858 organization, public district, or public authority located in 33
5959 whole or in part within this state which provides, or has 34
6060 authority to provide, firefighting, law enforcement, ambulance, 35
6161 medical, or other emergency services. 36
6262 (e)(d) "Public safety agency" means a functional division 37
6363 of a public agency which provides fi refighting, law enforcement, 38
6464 medical, or other emergency services. 39
6565 Section 2. Paragraph (c) of subsection (1) of section 40
6666 401.465, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 41
6767 401.465 911 public safety telecommunicator certification. — 42
6868 (1) DEFINITIONS.—As used in this section, the term: 43
6969 (c) "Public safety agency" has the same meaning as in s. 44
7070 365.171(3) s. 365.171(3)(d). 45
7171 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025. 46
