19	19	WHEREAS, Florida State University is proud to be recognized 8
20	20	as a Preeminent University by the State of Florida, and 9
21	21	WHEREAS, Florida State University has reached a historic 10
22	22	milestone, earning its highest academic ranking ever at No. 10 11
23	23	in Niche's report of Top Public Universities in America, and has 12
24	24	been recognized by Princeton Review as the No. 1 public 13
25	25	university for student satisfaction, and 14
26	26	WHEREAS, Florida State University is recognized as a 15
27	27	national leader in student success, with a record first -year 16
28	28	student retention rate of 96 percent and a record four -year 17
29	29	graduation rate of 76 percent, placing FSU among the Top 10 in 18
30	30	the nation, and 19
31	31	WHEREAS, Florida State University significantly contri butes 20
32	32	to the economy by injecting more than $15.5 billion into the 21
33	33	local and state economy annually, and 22
34	34	WHEREAS, Florida State University's research expenditures 23
35	35	reached an all-time high of $460.7 million, and FSU is expanding 24
36	36	its research enterprise to pave the way for world -changing 25 

51	51	WHEREAS, Florida State University is the headquarters of 30
52	52	the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the only national 31
53	53	laboratory in Florida and home to the most powerful magnets in 32
54	54	the world, which generates $709 million in economic output and 33
55	55	supports 4,550 jobs, and 34
56	56	WHEREAS, Florida State University offers graduate, 35
57	57	undergraduate, doctoral, and professional degrees in 272 36
58	58	programs within 17 colleges taught by a faculty of 2,760 37
59	59	members, which has included members of the National Academy of 38
60	60	Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of 39
61	61	Medicine, American Academy Arts and Sciences, and six Nobel 40
62	62	Laureates, and has created a student -faculty ratio of 17-to-1, 41

99	99	WHEREAS, the Florida State University baseball team reached 68
100	100	the College World Series for the 24th time, the soccer team won 69
101	101	its 11th ACC Championship, and in the annual Director's Cup 70

103	103	programs, the Seminoles were the 12th -best program in the 72
104	104	nation, representing the school's highest ranking in five years, 73

123	123	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be 82
124	124	presented to Dr. Richard McCullough, the 16th President of 83
125	125	Florida State University, as a tangible token of the sentiments 84
