A resolution designating March 19, 2025, as "FSU Day" 2 
in Florida. 3 
 4 
 WHEREAS, the Tallahassee campus of Florida State University 5 
(FSU), founded in 1851, is the oldest continuous site of higher 6 
education in Florida, and 7 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University is proud to be recognized 8 
as a Preeminent University by the State of Florida, and 9 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University has reached a historic 10 
milestone, earning its highest academic ranking ever at No. 10 11 
in Niche's report of Top Public Universities in America, and has 12 
been recognized by Princeton Review as the No. 1 public 13 
university for student satisfaction, and 14 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University is recognized as a 15 
national leader in student success, with a record first -year 16 
student retention rate of 96 percent and a record four -year 17 
graduation rate of 76 percent, placing FSU among the Top 10 in 18 
the nation, and 19 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University significantly contri butes 20 
to the economy by injecting more than $15.5 billion into the 21 
local and state economy annually, and 22 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University's research expenditures 23 
reached an all-time high of $460.7 million, and FSU is expanding 24 
its research enterprise to pave the way for world -changing 25  

discoveries and launching bold new initiatives, such as FSU 26 
Health and the Institute for Pediatric Rare Diseases, which make 27 
a difference in people's lives and contribute to the economies 28 
of the state and nation, and 29 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University is the headquarters of 30 
the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the only national 31 
laboratory in Florida and home to the most powerful magnets in 32 
the world, which generates $709 million in economic output and 33 
supports 4,550 jobs, and 34 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University offers graduate, 35 
undergraduate, doctoral, and professional degrees in 272 36 
programs within 17 colleges taught by a faculty of 2,760 37 
members, which has included members of the National Academy of 38 
Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of 39 
Medicine, American Academy Arts and Sciences, and six Nobel 40 
Laureates, and has created a student -faculty ratio of 17-to-1, 41 
making more than 60 percent of Florida State University's 42 
offered classes smaller than 20 students, and 43 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University's freshman class is one 44 
of the brightest in the university's history, coming from all 67 45 
Florida counties, all 50 states, and 48 countries, and 76 46 
percent were among the top 10 percent of their high schoo l class 47 
and collectively had an average weighted GPA of 4.3, median SAT 48 
score of 1350, and median ACT score of 30, and 49  

 WHEREAS, Florida State University is ranked tenth in the 50 
nation for study-abroad enrollment and has a rich history of 51 
supporting learning and scholarship in programs around the world 52 
with exceptional study centers in London, Florence, and 53 
Valencia, and a branch campus in the Republic of Panama, which 54 
provide transformative educational experiences to thousands of 55 
students across nearly ever y discipline offered at FSU, and 56 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University is honored to share a 57 
special relationship with the Seminole Tribe of Florida, built 58 
on respect, trust, and collaboration, celebrating the Tribe's 59 
rich history and culture while supporting educational 60 
opportunities and initiatives that strengthen this enduring 61 
partnership, and 62 
 WHEREAS, Florida State University boasts a network of more 63 
than 400,000 alumni who are making a difference in their 64 
communities across Florida and around the world a nd 65 
demonstrating the university's commitment to producing graduates 66 
who lead and serve, and 67 
 WHEREAS, the Florida State University baseball team reached 68 
the College World Series for the 24th time, the soccer team won 69 
its 11th ACC Championship, and in the annual Director's Cup 70 
standings, which measure the overall strength of athletic 71 
programs, the Seminoles were the 12th -best program in the 72 
nation, representing the school's highest ranking in five years, 73

Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of 76 
Florida: 77

 That March 19, 2025, is designated as "FSU Day" in Florida 79 
in recognition of Florida State University's contribution as an 80 
outstanding institution of higher education. 81 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be 82 
presented to Dr. Richard McCullough, the 16th President of 83 
Florida State University, as a tangible token of the sentiments 84 
expressed herein. 85
