9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Diane Wilush has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital3 |

10 | 10 | | role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of4 |

11 | 11 | | the citizens of Georgia; and5 |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,6 |

13 | 13 | | talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state, as evidenced7 |
---|
14 | 14 | | dramatically by her superlative service as President and CEO of United Cerebral Palsy of8 |
---|
15 | 15 | | Georgia and United Cerebral Palsy of South Carolina; and9 |

16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, during her distinguished tenure, she has designed and implemented community10 |

17 | 17 | | supports and services for children and adults with cerebral palsy and other developmental11 |

18 | 18 | | disabilities; and12 |

19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, prior to her work with United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), she worked in Florida as13 |

20 | 20 | | a social worker and as director of community-based social services for individuals living14 |

21 | 21 | | with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities as well as their families; and15 |

24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, over her decades long career in social services, Diane has further served on a |

26 | 26 | | number of boards and held voluntary board leadership positions, including the early17 |

27 | 27 | | intervention coordinating council in South Florida, Service Providers Association in Georgia,18 |
---|
28 | 28 | | and more; and19 |

29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, in addition, she has been actively engaged with many UCP national committees20 |
---|
30 | 30 | | such as public policy, affiliate services, the UCP Regional Administrators Council, and the21 |
---|
31 | 31 | | UCP Professional Council, where she serves as chair; and22 |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high23 |

33 | 33 | | ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom24 |

34 | 34 | | which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved25 |

35 | 35 | | through overcoming the many challenges of life; and26 |

36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Diane has served with honor and distinction, and her vision and unyielding27 |

37 | 37 | | commitment to excellence will be sorely missed upon the occasion of her retirement; and28 |

38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this29 |

39 | 39 | | remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.30 |

40 | 40 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body31 |

41 | 41 | | recognize and commend Diane Wilush for her lifetime of compassionate, selfless, effective,32 |

42 | 42 | | and tireless service; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend33 |
---|
43 | 43 | | the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.34 |

44 | 44 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed35 |
