23 LC 112 1719 Senate Resolution 10EX By: Senators Walker III of the 20th, Harrell of the 40th, Kirkpatrick of the 32nd, Kennedy of the 18th, Gooch of the 51st and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Diane Wilush on her outstanding service; and for other 1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Diane Wilush has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital3 role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of4 the citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,6 talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state, as evidenced7 dramatically by her superlative service as President and CEO of United Cerebral Palsy of8 Georgia and United Cerebral Palsy of South Carolina; and9 WHEREAS, during her distinguished tenure, she has designed and implemented community10 supports and services for children and adults with cerebral palsy and other developmental11 disabilities; and12 WHEREAS, prior to her work with United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), she worked in Florida as13 a social worker and as director of community-based social services for individuals living14 with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities as well as their families; and15 S. R. 10EX - 1 - 23 LC 112 1719 WHEREAS, over her decades long career in social services, Diane has further served on a 16 number of boards and held voluntary board leadership positions, including the early17 intervention coordinating council in South Florida, Service Providers Association in Georgia,18 and more; and19 WHEREAS, in addition, she has been actively engaged with many UCP national committees20 such as public policy, affiliate services, the UCP Regional Administrators Council, and the21 UCP Professional Council, where she serves as chair; and22 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high23 ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom24 which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved25 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and26 WHEREAS, Diane has served with honor and distinction, and her vision and unyielding27 commitment to excellence will be sorely missed upon the occasion of her retirement; and28 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this29 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body31 recognize and commend Diane Wilush for her lifetime of compassionate, selfless, effective,32 and tireless service; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend33 the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.34 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed35 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Diane Wilush. 36 S.
