66 Commending and congratulating Ms. Lois Smith-Dixon; and for other purposes.

88 WHEREAS, Ms. Lois Smith-Dixon was born on December 10, 1924, in Lovejoy, Georgia,2
99 and this year she enjoys the delightful distinction of celebrating her 99th birthday; and3
1010 WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided4
1111 the foundation of success from which her family members have developed and flourished,5
1212 as evidenced by her six wonderful children, 18 outstanding grandchildren, 17 exceptional6
1313 great-grandchildren, and 17 remarkable great-great-grandchildren; and7
1414 WHEREAS, Ms. Lois Smith-Dixon has long been an integral part of her community's8
1515 spiritual life, having joined fellowship with Mt. Olive Baptist Church in the early 1950s9
1616 under the leadership of the late Rev. H. M. Alexander; and10
1717 WHEREAS, her dedication to her faith and her service within the church community has11
1818 been marked by unwavering commitment, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the12
1919 well-being of her fellow congregants; and13

2222 WHEREAS, Ms. Lois Smith-Dixon possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through

2424 experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many15
2525 challenges of life; and16
2626 WHEREAS, a resident of Jonesboro, Georgia, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with17
2727 an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and18
2828 WHEREAS, she has witnessed a dramatic change in the world over the course of her19
2929 lifetime, and we salute her contribution to its progress through her tireless efforts on behalf20
3030 of her community and extended family; and21
3131 WHEREAS, by the example Ms. Lois Smith-Dixon has made of her life, she makes this22
3232 world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately23
3333 recognized during this very special and memorable time.24
3434 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25
3535 commend Ms. Lois Smith-Dixon for her unselfish, dedicated, and loving service to the26
3636 members of her family and community; congratulate her on the remarkable occasion of her27
3737 99th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.28
3838 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29
3939 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ms. Lois30
4040 Smith-Dixon.31
