66 Expressing support for the Nation of Israel and the Jewish people as well as condemning

88 terroristic attacks upon the Nation of Israel and antisemitic acts and speech in the United2
99 States; and for other purposes.3
1010 WHEREAS, on October 7, 2023, the terrorist organization Hamas launched a sudden and4
1111 violent attack on the Nation of Israel, killing and wounding thousands, including women and5
1212 children, and taking numerous civilians as hostages; and6
1313 WHEREAS, American citizens were among those killed in the attack; and7
1414 WHEREAS, the United States, having been the first country to recognize Israel as an8
1515 independent nation and as Israel's principal ally, has enjoyed a close and mutually beneficial9
1616 relationship with Israel and its people; and10
1717 WHEREAS, the Senate has recognized numerous times that there is a special bond of11
1818 friendship between the citizens of Georgia and Israel that inspires the people of Georgia to12
1919 stand with the people of Israel in solidarity; and13

2222 WHEREAS, Georgia proudly serves as the home of the Israeli Consulate General to the

2424 Southeastern United States; and15
2525 WHEREAS, the Jewish people and their allies have been the subject of brutal violence, sneak16
2626 attacks, acts of genocide, and terroristic threats throughout the ages of history to the present17
2727 day; and18
2828 WHEREAS, the theocratic regime in the Islamic Republic of Iran regularly espouses hatred19
2929 and prejudice toward Jews and the people of Israel; has called for the destruction of Israel20
3030 numerous times since the Islamic revolution in Iran 44 years ago; and sponsors acts of21
3131 terrorism targeted at Jews, Jewish institutions, and allies of the Jewish community in Israel22
3232 and around the world; and23
3333 WHEREAS, violent and threatening acts against Jewish people and institutions continue in24
3434 the United States and the State of Georgia; and25
3535 WHEREAS, the recent attacks on Israel and antisemitic stereotypes, attitudes, and speech26
3636 have been encouraged, praised, and justified by students and professors at colleges and27
3737 universities across the United States in the weeks following the October 7 attacks on Israel,28
3838 with one now-suspended professor calling the attacks "exhilarating" and "energizing";29
3939 another praising Israel's attackers with the words "they got walls we got gliders"; and another30
4040 denouncing Israelis as "pigs" and "savages"; and31
4141 WHEREAS, such attitudes and speech perpetuate hatred against Israel and the Jewish people,32
4242 dehumanize the victims of antisemitic violence and discrimination, excuse shameful acts of33
4343 terrorism motivated by antisemitism, encourage violence against Jews and Jewish34
4444 institutions, and reflect ignorance of the constant threat perpetrated against Israel and the35

4747 Jewish people by terrorist organizations like Hamas and state sponsors of terrorism like Iran;

5050 WHEREAS, law enforcement officials across the United States have warned Americans to38
5151 remain vigilant against heightened risks of acts of violence in the United States inspired by39
5252 the October 7 attack against Israel and such dangerous rhetoric.40
5353 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body41
5454 condemn the terrorist attacks by Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, and the support of42
5555 terroristic organizations and acts by Iran.43
5656 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body denounce hateful, ignorant,44
5757 and dangerous rhetoric in the United States and abroad that suggests Israel bears45
5858 responsibility for the brutal attacks on its people and homeland.46
5959 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body commend college and47
6060 university administrations that have taken disciplinary action against faculty, staff, and48
6161 students who have espoused hateful rhetoric or made antisemitic threats of violence against49
6262 Jews and the Nation of Israel and call upon other college and university administrations to50
6363 do likewise.51
6464 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body unequivocally acknowledge52
6565 that Israel has the right to exist and defend itself and that the Jewish people have the right to53
6666 live in peace and safety in their homes and communities and whatever country they reside.54

6969 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body encourage strong and

7171 sustained efforts by Congress, the President of the United States, and other world leaders to56
7272 support and defend Israel and the Jewish people.57
7373 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed58
7474 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Consul59
7575 General of Israel to the Southeastern United States. 60
