88 To amend Article 6 of Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated,

1010 relating to delinquency relative to the juvenile code, so as to enact the "Parental Waiver Save2
1111 My Young Life Act"; to provide for parental waiver for participation in diversion programs;3
1212 to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5
1414 SECTION 1.6
1515 This Act shall be known and may be cited as the "Parental Waiver Save My Young Life7
1616 Act."8
1717 SECTION 2.9
1818 Article 6 of Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to10
1919 delinquency relative to the juvenile code, is amended by revising paragraphs (2) and (6) of11
2020 subsection (a) of Code Section 15-11-601, relating to disposition of delinquent act, as12
2121 follows:13
2222 "(2) An order requiring such child and his or her parent, guardian, or legal custodian to14
2323 participate in counseling or in counsel and advice. In cases where the court has been

2727 unable to make contact on at least eight occasions within a 90 day period with such16
2828 child's parent, guardian, or legal custodian, the court shall find that parental, guardian, or17
2929 custodial consent has been waived and may order such child for rehabilitation,18
3030 counseling, and in counsel and advice. Such rehabilitation, counseling, and counsel and19
3131 advice may be provided by the court, court personnel, probation officers, community20
3232 supervision officers, professional counselors or social workers, psychologists, physicians,21
3333 physician assistants, qualified volunteers, or appropriate public, private, or volunteer22
3434 agencies and shall be designed to assist in deterring future delinquent acts or other23
3535 conduct or conditions which would be harmful to such child or society;"24
3636 "(6) An order requiring that such child perform community service in a manner25
3737 prescribed by the court and under the supervision of an individual or rehabilitation,26
3838 counseling, and in counsel and advice program designated by the court;"27
3939 SECTION 3.28
4040 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.29
