19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put3 |

20 | 20 | | their personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the4 |

21 | 21 | | freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and5 |

22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Corporal Dewey E. Rewis, Jr., was a guardian of this nation's freedom and6 |

23 | 23 | | liberty with the United States Army, serving in the Korean War; and7 |

24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Corporal Rewis was reported missing in action on December 2, 1950, after his8 |
---|
25 | 25 | | unit came under attack during an advance along the eastern banks of the Chosin Reservoir9 |

26 | 26 | | in North Korea; and10 |

27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, it was reported that Corporal Rewis was held as a prisoner of war and died in11 |

28 | 28 | | an area called the Death Valley, which served as a collection point for United Nations12 |
