24 LC 112 2407 House Resolution 1449 By: Representatives Adeyina of the 110 th , Holly of the 116 th , Okoye of the 102 nd , Adesanya of the 43 rd , and Olaleye of the 59 th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Awet Eyasu on his outstanding public service; and for other 1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Awet Eyasu has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital3 role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the4 citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,6 talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state, as evidenced7 dramatically by his superlative service as part of the Clarkston City Council; and8 WHEREAS, during his distinguished tenure, which includes years of service as vice mayor9 and mayor, he has accomplished and advocated for a $15 minimum wage for city employees,10 a police policy of non-detainment, a "Ban the Box" ordinance for city employment, the11 revitalization of the City of Clarkston's town center, and many more remarkable12 achievements; and13 WHEREAS, Councilman Eyasu's significant organizational and leadership talents,14 remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the15 H. R. 1449 - 1 - 24 LC 112 2407 citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and 16 associates; and17 WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for18 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and19 WHEREAS, Councilman Eyasu has served with honor and distinction, and his vision and20 unyielding commitment to excellence have set the standard for public service; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this22 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body recognize and commend Awet Eyasu for his efficient, effective,25 unselfish, and dedicated public service to the City of Clarkston, Georgia, and extend the most26 sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Awet29 Eyasu.30 H.
