A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Dr. Angela Harris; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Angela Harris has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the2
vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare3
of the citizens of Georgia; and4
WHEREAS, she holds the historic distinction of serving as the first woman president of the5
Southern Christian Leadership Conference in DeKalb County, Georgia; and6
WHEREAS, as a woman of many roles, Dr. Harris has further served her community as part7
of numerous boards, a dedicated advocate for education, and as founder of exemplary8
organizations such as the B.L.A.C.K. People United Global Network, The Blackwood9
Worldwide, and B.L.A.C.K. I A.M MEDIA; and10
WHEREAS, Dr. Harris has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including11
the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020 and multiple proclamations for her12
contributions to civil rights, education, and the entertainment industry; and13

WHEREAS, as additional testament to her dedication to excellence, she was honored in 2022
14
as a finalist for The Most Influential Black Woman in Atlanta by the Atlanta Business15
League; and16
WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high17
ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom18
which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved19
through overcoming the many challenges of life; and20
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for21
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and22
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25
the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Angela Harris for her many26
outstanding accomplishments and contributions on behalf of others as well as extend the27
most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.30
Angela Harris.31
