| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Michael Allen "Mac" Collins was born in Butts County, Georgia, where he was3 |

| 13 | 13 | | educated in the local school system and later became a businessman and trucking company4 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | owner; and5 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Congressman Collins began his career in public service and politics in 19776 |

| 16 | 16 | | when he served as chairman of the Butts County Board of Commissioners until 1980; and7 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, he served two terms in the Georgia Senate, where he established a reputation8 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | as a strong conservative leader; and9 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Congressman Collins was elected to the United States House of Representatives10 |

| 20 | 20 | | in 1992 and ably and adeptly represented the people of the Third Congressional District; and11 |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, during his six terms in the House of Representatives, Congressman Collins12 |

| 31 | 31 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL19 |

| 32 | 32 | | ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the interchange of Interstate 75 at State Route 16 (Exit 205)20 |

| 33 | 33 | | in Butts County is dedicated as the Congressman Mac Collins Memorial Interchange.21 |

| 34 | 34 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and22 |

| 35 | 35 | | directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Congressman Mac Collins23 |
