A RESOLUTION
Commending The Links, Incorporated and recognizing February 6, 2023, as the Georgia

Links Day At The Capitol; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol, an annual legislative conference, will be3
held on February 6, 2023, and its theme is "Agents of Change, Advocates of Action"; and4
WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is part of the Southern Area Legislative and5
public affairs priorities, which are considered through a lens of diversity, equity, and6
inclusion; and7
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is uniquely position to leverage the collective strength,8
resources, and energy of its members to ensure the public policies considered are reflective9
of its membership and the global community; and10
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international not-for-profit corporation that was11
established in 1946 for the purposes of education, civic, and cultural enhancement; and12
WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is a component of transformational13
programming in legislative issues and public affairs for The Links, Incorporated; and 14 23 LC 126 0046

WHEREAS, additionally, the trust is designed to motivate legislators to strengthen and more
15
effectively enforce and fund legislation to close the gap in the foster care system, breast16
health, and human trafficking; and17
WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is not only a southern area initiative but has18
spread throughout the organization. The well anticipated event has expanded to not only19
engage and empower but to educate as well. It is an opportunity for members to gather from20
around the state to advocate in one voice and to have the rallying call of legislative priorities21
heard; and22
WHEREAS, members of The Links, Incorporated provide over one million service hours23
annually in five primary programmatic areas: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends24
and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services; and25
WHEREAS, three members of the Georgia General Assembly, Representative Inga Willis,26
Representative Carolyn Hugley, and Alumna Member Senator Freddie Powell Sims, are27
distinguished members of The Links, Incorporated; and28
WHEREAS, the mission statement of The Links, Incorporated is "Friends Transforming29
Communities Through Service."30
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that31
the members of this body commend The Links, Incorporated for its work to improve the32
quality of life in this state and nation, welcome Southern Area Director Sylvia Perry, and33
recognize February 6, 2023, as Georgia Links Day At The Capitol.34 23 LC 126 0046

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized

and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to The36
Links, Incorporated.37
