1111 Recognizing and commending Le Dam Doan; and for other purposes.

1313 WHEREAS, Le Dam Doan has served as the chair for the Asian Pacific American Heritage2
1414 Month Celebration Gala from 2010 to 2023 and was past president of the Asian/Pacific3
1515 American Council of Georgia (APAC-GA) 2013-2014; and4
1616 WHEREAS, APAC Georgia is a federation of over 15 multicultural Asian organizations in5
1717 metro Atlanta that was established to increase pride in the Asian culture, promote civic6
1818 engagement of Asian Americans, and protect the interests of Asian Americans; and7
1919 WHEREAS, she has dedicated a lifetime of service to the immigrant and refugee community.8
2020 Before coming to Georgia, she assisted in immigration humanitarian programs for refugees9
2121 throughout California for more than 30 years; and10
2222 WHEREAS, she was part of a task force on hate crimes and affirmative action in California,11
2323 and when Vietnamese refugees arrived in California from 1975 to 1996, Ms. Doan12
2424 volunteered for Red Cross and Food for the Hungry and at Camp Pendleton and Camp13
2525 Weimar Medical Center "Hope Village," relocation camps for Vietnamese refugees; and14

2828 WHEREAS, her service work in refugee camps extended internationally to countries

3030 throughout Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines; and16
3131 WHEREAS, in addition to her leadership at APAC Georgia, she has also been involved in17
3232 the following communities: Public Relations Director of the Vietnamese American18
3333 Community of Georgia (VAC-GA), Treasurer of Vietnamese Women Association of Georgia19
3434 (VWA-GA), Board Member of the Atlanta Regional Workforce Board (ARWB) Youth20

3636 CID), Board Member of Asian American Advancing Justice-Atlanta Organization (AAAJA),22
3737 Chair and Team Captain of the Asian Cultural Experience in Georgia (ACE), Member of the23

5656 WHEREAS, received her bachelor's degree in psychology from California State University,

5858 Sacramento in 1980and earned an MBA in 2000 from Trinity Washington University, D.C.;41

6060 WHEREAS, for over 14 years, she was a vocational counselor in the San Juan Unified43
6161 School District in Carmichael, California, working with at-risk students in the foster youth44
6262 program, independent living program, and occupational training program; and later worked45
6363 as Unemployment Insurance Field Tax Auditor II at the Georgia Department of Labor.46
6464 WHEREAS, she was born and raised in South Vietnam and now lives in Lawrenceville,47
6565 Georgia, with her husband Tinh Doan and son Nam-Quoc with his wife Ivy Ho and her48
6666 mother.49
6767 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that50
6868 the members of this body recognize and commend Le Dam Doan for her tireless work on51
6969 behalf of the Asian American community.52
7070 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized53
7171 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Le54
