A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Le Dam Doan; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Le Dam Doan has served as the chair for the Asian Pacific American Heritage2
Month Celebration Gala from 2010 to 2023 and was past president of the Asian/Pacific3
American Council of Georgia (APAC-GA) 2013-2014; and4
WHEREAS, APAC Georgia is a federation of over 15 multicultural Asian organizations in5
metro Atlanta that was established to increase pride in the Asian culture, promote civic6
engagement of Asian Americans, and protect the interests of Asian Americans; and7
WHEREAS, she has dedicated a lifetime of service to the immigrant and refugee community.8
Before coming to Georgia, she assisted in immigration humanitarian programs for refugees9
throughout California for more than 30 years; and10
WHEREAS, she was part of a task force on hate crimes and affirmative action in California,11
and when Vietnamese refugees arrived in California from 1975 to 1996, Ms. Doan12
volunteered for Red Cross and Food for the Hungry and at Camp Pendleton and Camp13
Weimar Medical Center "Hope Village," relocation camps for Vietnamese refugees; and14

WHEREAS, her service work in refugee camps extended internationally to countries

throughout Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines; and16
WHEREAS, in addition to her leadership at APAC Georgia, she has also been involved in17
the following communities: Public Relations Director of the Vietnamese American18
Community of Georgia (VAC-GA), Treasurer of Vietnamese Women Association of Georgia19
(VWA-GA), Board Member of the Atlanta Regional Workforce Board (ARWB) Youth20
Council, Member of Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District (Gwinnett Place21
CID), Board Member of Asian American Advancing Justice-Atlanta Organization (AAAJA),22
Chair and Team Captain of the Asian Cultural Experience in Georgia (ACE), Member of the23
Atlanta Asian Film Festival (AAFF), Member of the International Association of Workforce24
Professionals (IAWP), Board Member of Who's Who in Asian American Communities25
(WWAAC) Alliance Foundation, Inc., and Member of Asian Pacific American Historical26
Society-Georgia (APAHS); and27
WHEREAS, her years of community service earned her numerous awards including:  Thank28
you Award for Services as President, Vice President, Gala Chair 2013-2023; Who's Who in29
Asian American Community Leadership Award 2017; Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award30
from Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp 2015; Outstanding Community Services31
Award-Vietnamese American Community-GA (VAC-GA) 2015; Community Champions32
Lifetime Award from The Asian American Legal Advocacy Center, Inc., (AALAC) 2014;33
25 Most Influential Asian Americans in Georgia from Georgia Asian Times 2008, 2013,34
2014; Outstanding Community Services for Asian Pacific Police Officers of CA 1996;35
Resolution Recognition Award from the State Advisory Council on Refugee Assistance and36
Services by California Department of Social Services 1994, 1996; Outstanding Women of37
the Year from YWCA-CA 1994; and Champion Volunteer of the Year from Red Cross CA38

WHEREAS, received her bachelor's degree in psychology from California State University,

Sacramento in 1980and earned an MBA in 2000 from Trinity Washington University, D.C.;41
and42
WHEREAS, for over 14 years, she was a vocational counselor in the San Juan Unified43
School District in Carmichael, California, working with at-risk students in the foster youth44
program, independent living program, and occupational training program; and later worked45
as Unemployment Insurance Field Tax Auditor II at the Georgia Department of Labor.46
WHEREAS, she was born and raised in South Vietnam and now lives in Lawrenceville,47
Georgia, with her husband Tinh Doan and son Nam-Quoc with his wife Ivy Ho and her48
mother.49
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that50
the members of this body recognize and commend Le Dam Doan for her tireless work on51
behalf of the Asian American community.52
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized53
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Le54
Dam Doan.55
