99 Commending The Links, Incorporated and recognizing February 5, 2024, as the Georgia

1111 Links Day At The Capitol; and for other purposes.2
1212 WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol, an annual legislative conference, will be3
1313 held on February 5, 2024, and its theme is "Raising Our Collective Engagement:4
1414 Advocacy—Education—Training"; and5
1515 WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is part of the Southern Area Legislative and6
1616 public affairs priorities, which are considered through a lens of diversity, equity, and7
1717 inclusion; and8
1818 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is uniquely position to leverage the collective strength,9
1919 resources, and energy of its members to ensure the public policies considered are reflective10
2020 of its membership and the global community; and11
2121 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international not-for-profit corporation that was12
2222 established in 1946 for the purposes of education, civic, and cultural enhancement; and13

2525 WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is a component of transformational

2727 programming in legislative issues and public affairs for The Links, Incorporated; and15
2828 WHEREAS, additionally, the trust is designed to motivate legislators to strengthen and more16
2929 effectively enforce and fund legislation to close the gap in Black maternal health, mental17
3030 health, and HBCU land grant funding; and18
3131 WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is not only a southern area initiative but has19
3232 spread throughout the organization. The well anticipated event has expanded to not only20
3333 engage and empower but to educate as well. It is an opportunity for members to gather from21
3434 around the state to advocate in one voice and to have the rallying call of legislative priorities22
3535 heard; and23
3636 WHEREAS, members of The Links, Incorporated provide over one million service hours24
3737 annually in five primary programmatic areas: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends25
3838 and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services; and26
3939 WHEREAS, three members of the Georgia General Assembly, Representative Inga Willis,27
4040 Representative Carolyn Hugley, and Alumna Member Senator Freddie Powell Sims, are28
4141 distinguished members of The Links, Incorporated; and29
4242 WHEREAS, the mission statement of The Links, Incorporated is "Friends Transforming30
4343 Communities Through Service."31
4444 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that32
4545 the members of this body commend The Links, Incorporated for its work to improve the33
