A RESOLUTION
Commending The Links, Incorporated and recognizing February 5, 2024, as the Georgia

Links Day At The Capitol; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol, an annual legislative conference, will be3
held on February 5, 2024, and its theme is "Raising Our Collective Engagement:4
Advocacy—Education—Training"; and5
WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is part of the Southern Area Legislative and6
public affairs priorities, which are considered through a lens of diversity, equity, and7
inclusion; and8
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is uniquely position to leverage the collective strength,9
resources, and energy of its members to ensure the public policies considered are reflective10
of its membership and the global community; and11
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international not-for-profit corporation that was12
established in 1946 for the purposes of education, civic, and cultural enhancement; and13

WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is a component of transformational
14
programming in legislative issues and public affairs for The Links, Incorporated; and15
WHEREAS, additionally, the trust is designed to motivate legislators to strengthen and more16
effectively enforce and fund legislation to close the gap in Black maternal health, mental17
health, and HBCU land grant funding; and18
WHEREAS, Georgia Links Day At The Capitol is not only a southern area initiative but has19
spread throughout the organization. The well anticipated event has expanded to not only20
engage and empower but to educate as well. It is an opportunity for members to gather from21
around the state to advocate in one voice and to have the rallying call of legislative priorities22
heard; and23
WHEREAS, members of The Links, Incorporated provide over one million service hours24
annually in five primary programmatic areas: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends25
and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services; and26
WHEREAS, three members of the Georgia General Assembly, Representative Inga Willis,27
Representative Carolyn Hugley, and Alumna Member Senator Freddie Powell Sims, are28
distinguished members of The Links, Incorporated; and29
WHEREAS, the mission statement of The Links, Incorporated is "Friends Transforming30
Communities Through Service."31
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that32
the members of this body commend The Links, Incorporated for its work to improve the33

quality of life in this state and nation, welcome Southern Area Director Vanessa Falls, and
34
recognize February 5, 2024, as Georgia Links Day At The Capitol.35
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized36
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to The37
Links, Incorporated.38
