R. 188 - 1 - Senate Resolution 188 By: Senators Dixon of the 45th, Harbin of the 16th, Still of the 48th, Goodman of the 8th, Summers of the 13th and others A RESOLUTION Commending the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and recognizing 1 February 21, 2023, as PAGE Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, PAGE is the state's largest organization for professional educators with more3 than 95,000 members who are teachers, administrators, and support personnel employed in4 every school system in Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, PAGE was founded in the 1970s with the mission to make Georgia a better6 place for students to learn and for teachers to teach; and7 WHEREAS, the PAGE Foundation sponsors the Academic Bowl for middle grades, the8 Georgia Academic Decathlon for high school students, and the Student and Teacher9 Achievement Recognition (STAR) program; and10 WHEREAS, PAGE has promoted teaching as a profession by sponsoring local chapters of11 the Future Georgia Educators in middle and high schools across the state; and12 WHEREAS, PAGE provides legal protection and professional learning to enhance13 competence and confidence, build leadership, and increase student achievement; and14 23 LC 126 0116 S. R. 188 - 2 - WHEREAS, PAGE actively participates in the legislative process each year, working to 15 improve education and student achievement; and16 WHEREAS, on February 21, 2023, PAGE members and leaders will gather at the state17 capitol to meet with their local legislators.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body19 commend the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) for its advocacy and20 support of educators and education and recognize February 21, 2023, as PAGE Day at the21 state capitol.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Professional24 Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE).25
