24 LC 112 2590 Senate Resolution 867 By: Senator Rahman of the 5th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Bangladesh Association of Georgia; and for other 1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Bangladesh Association of Georgia was established on November 25, 1990,3 the date that the first constitution was introduced and approved by the Board of the Executive4 Committee members, with a vision to unite and empower Bangladeshi-Americans in5 Georgia; and6 WHEREAS, the mission of the Bangladesh Association of Georgia is to celebrate, educate,7 and elevate. Through a variety of cultural events, educational programs, and community8 initiatives, the association strives to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of9 Bangladeshi heritage; and10 WHEREAS, the Bangladesh Association of Georgia has had an impact that extends beyond11 community borders. Through outreach and advocacy, it seeks to build bridges of12 understanding and collaboration with its neighbors in Georgia, and by fostering dialogue,13 promoting diversity, and engaging in charitable endeavors, it aims to create a more inclusive14 and harmonious society for all; and15 S. R. 867 - 1 - 24 LC 112 2590 WHEREAS, the Bangladesh Association of Georgia is a Bangladeshi community social 16 welfare organization based in Atlanta. It organizes cultural events, celebrates all national17 days of Bangladesh, including the Bangla New Year, and arranges consulate services, youth18 educational seminars, fairs, and festivals that tie the community together and with19 Bangladesh. The association assists the Bangladeshi community by providing a networking20 platform and by introducing Bangladeshi heritage to the wider multi-cultural communities21 of Atlanta. One of the principal aims of the Bangladesh Association of Georgia is to22 encourage a new generation of Bangladeshi-Americans to explore Bangladeshi culture and23 heritage and to build bridges with other cultures.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25 recognize and the Bangladesh Association of Georgia for their advocacy, outreach, and26 encouragement of the new generation of Bangladeshi-Americans to explore Bangladeshi27 culture and heritage as well as to build bridges with other cultures.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the30 press.31 S.
