25 LC 56 0402 House Bill 889 By: Representatives Sanchez of the 42 nd , Park of the 107 th , Santos of the 117 th , Berry of the 56 th , Adeyina of the 110 th , and others A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Chapter 1 of Title 35 of the Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general 1 provisions regarding law enforcement officers and agencies, so as to provide for certain2 federal agents to clearly identify themselves while in the performance of their duties; to3 repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5 SECTION 1.6 Chapter 1 of Title 35 of the Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions7 regarding law enforcement officers and agencies, is amended by adding a new Code section8 to read as follows:9 "35-1-24. 10 (a) An agent of United States Immigration and the Customs Enforcement and United11 States Customs and Border Protection shall, in the performance of his or her duties of12 either such agency, be required to:13 (1) Wear a name badge, patch, or other clearly visible insignia that identifies the14 individual agent; and15 (2) Wear a uniform that clearly identifies the agency the to which the agent is affiliated.16 H. B. 889 - 1 - 25 LC 56 0402 (b) Any vehicle operated in the performance of duties by any agent provided for in17 subsection (a) of this Code section shall be appropriately marked in a way that clearly18 identifies the agency to which any such agent or group of agents is affiliated."19 SECTION 2.20 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.21 H.
