25 LC 112 2874 House Resolution 153 By: Representatives Willis of the 55 th and Jackson of the 165 th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Helen Marie Richardson Louis; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Helen Marie Richardson Louis; and3 WHEREAS, Helen Marie Richardson Louis was born on October 27, 1943, in Savannah,4 Georgia, the beloved daughter of Joseph Richardson Sr. and Florine Rogers Strong; and5 WHEREAS, she earned a bachelor's degree with honors in education from Savannah State6 College before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, to begin her career as an educator, later7 obtaining a master's degree in education from Georgia State University and completing all8 course work toward a Doctorate in Education at Walden University; and9 WHEREAS, Helen Marie Richardson Louis dedicated 37 years of service to the Atlanta10 Public School System as an elementary school teacher and school psychologist, where she11 was entrusted with some of the most challenging classrooms, commanded the respect of12 students and colleagues alike, and received numerous accolades for her outstanding13 contributions to education; and14 H. R. 153 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2874 WHEREAS, initiated into the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter on December 13, 1980, she was a 15 Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, where she co-chaired16 several committees and offered mentorship to undergraduate members; and17 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, she gave her life to Christ at an early age18 at First Evergreen Baptist Church in Savannah and later became an active member of19 Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta, where she participated in the CMA Bell Choir, the20 Verse Speaking Choir, and the Usher Board; and21 WHEREAS, Helen Marie Richardson Louis was a beloved mother, grandmother, and22 matriarch, leaving behind a legacy of love and encouragement for her two daughters,23 Quadralyn and DeVita, as well as her two grandchildren, Charles and Micala, whom she24 adored and supported throughout their lives and accomplishments; and25 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Helen Marie Richardson Louis will long26 be remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all27 who had the great fortune of knowing her.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Helen Marie Richardson30 Louis and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the33 family of Helen Marie Richardson Louis.34 H.
