77 Honoring the life and memory of Johnese Threadcraft; and for other purposes.

99 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
1010 with the passing of Johnese Threadcraft on November 18, 2024; and3
1111 WHEREAS, Johnese Threadcraft was born on June 12, 1951, in Calhoun County, Georgia,4
1212 a beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Lee Threadcraft Sr.; and5
1313 WHEREAS, she demonstrated remarkable courage in her early years by voluntarily6
1414 integrating Calhoun County High School before mandatory integration, excelling in her7
1515 studies and graduating with honors; and8
1616 WHEREAS, she continued her education at Georgia Southwestern College in Americus,9
1717 Georgia, where she again graduated with honors before embarking on a distinguished career10
1818 as an educator; and11
1919 WHEREAS, she began her professional career as an English and French teacher in Randolph12
2020 County and later continued her work in Atlanta at Henderson High School and Salem High13
2121 School in the DeKalb County School System; and14

2424 WHEREAS, her passion for education extended beyond the classroom, leading her to serve

2626 as a system-wide writing coordinator for DeKalb County and as president of the DeKalb16
2727 County Association of Educators; and17
2828 WHEREAS, she was a devoted and active member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church,18
2929 where she served as president of the Usher's Board and worked tirelessly with the Learning19
3030 and Educational Advancement Program (LEAP) Tutorial Program; and20
3131 WHEREAS, Johnese Threadcraft remained a strong advocate for youth, racial justice, and21
3232 educational excellence throughout her life; and22
3333 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation23
3434 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,24
3535 she made this world a better place in which to live; and25
3636 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Johnese Threadcraft will long be26
3737 remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who27
3838 had the great fortune of knowing her.28
3939 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29
4040 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Johnese Threadcraft and30
4141 express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.31
4242 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32
4343 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the33
4444 family of Johnese Threadcraft.34
