| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 |

| 10 | 10 | | with the passing of Johnese Threadcraft on November 18, 2024; and3 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Johnese Threadcraft was born on June 12, 1951, in Calhoun County, Georgia,4 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | a beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Lee Threadcraft Sr.; and5 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, she demonstrated remarkable courage in her early years by voluntarily6 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | integrating Calhoun County High School before mandatory integration, excelling in her7 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | studies and graduating with honors; and8 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, she continued her education at Georgia Southwestern College in Americus,9 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Georgia, where she again graduated with honors before embarking on a distinguished career10 |

| 18 | 18 | | as an educator; and11 |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, she began her professional career as an English and French teacher in Randolph12 |

| 20 | 20 | | County and later continued her work in Atlanta at Henderson High School and Salem High13 |

| 27 | 27 | | County Association of Educators; and17 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, she was a devoted and active member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church,18 |

| 29 | 29 | | where she served as president of the Usher's Board and worked tirelessly with the Learning19 |

| 30 | 30 | | and Educational Advancement Program (LEAP) Tutorial Program; and20 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Johnese Threadcraft remained a strong advocate for youth, racial justice, and21 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | educational excellence throughout her life; and22 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation23 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,24 |

| 35 | 35 | | she made this world a better place in which to live; and25 |

| 36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Johnese Threadcraft will long be26 |

| 37 | 37 | | remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who27 |

| 38 | 38 | | had the great fortune of knowing her.28 |

| 39 | 39 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 |

| 41 | 41 | | express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.31 |
