1515 A RESOLUTION
1616 Recognizing and commending Captain Matthew T. Brown upon his retirement; and for other

1818 purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, Captain Matthew T. Brown has served with honor and distinction as a member3
2020 of the Cobb County Police Department for more than 30 years; and4
2121 WHEREAS, during his distinguished tenure, Captain Brown has worked as part of vital5
2222 departments such as the Crimes Against Persons Unit, Crimes Against Children Unit, Special6
2323 Victims Unit, and Major Crimes Unit; and7
2424 WHEREAS, he has further dedicated innumerable hours of his time and energy toward8
2525 volunteering with the SafePath Children's Advocacy Center Inc., ensuring that the youth of9
2626 Cobb County are protected from abuse; and10
2727 WHEREAS, he is an honest and dedicated public servant who strives for excellence in all11
2828 of his endeavors and whose primary concern is the welfare and safety of the citizens of Cobb12
2929 County; and13

3232 WHEREAS, this spirited law enforcement professional has exhibited extraordinary devotion

3434 to duty, outstanding loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all of his15
3535 duties; and16
3636 WHEREAS, Captain Brown's efficient and effective commitment to excellence has been17
3737 recognized by his peers through the many decorations and awards he has received, including18
3838 a Medal of Valor, the 300 Club Award, and the Chief's Award; and19
3939 WHEREAS, his inspiring commitment to the welfare of others is an outstanding example of20
4040 the positive effect law enforcement professionals have on the lives and well-being of others;21

4242 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that gratitude is expressed for the unique and23
4343 often unheralded contributions of local law enforcement professionals on behalf of the24
4444 citizens of this state.25
4545 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26
4646 the members of this body recognize and commend Captain Matthew T. Brown upon the27
4747 grand occasion of his retirement for his efficient, effective, and dedicated service to Cobb28
4848 County as well as express their utmost appreciation for having so purely and truly defined29
4949 for others the meaning of public servant.30
5050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31
5151 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to32
5252 Captain Matthew T. Brown.33
