A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the 2024 Technical College System of Georgia award

winners; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) stands as a beacon of3
excellence in technical education, contributing significantly to workforce development and4
economic growth in our state; and5
WHEREAS, the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) program annually6
recognizes outstanding technical college students across the state, celebrating their academic7
achievements, leadership, and service to their communities; and8
WHEREAS, Nicholas Rucker, a physical therapist assistant student from Athens Technical9
College, has been named the 2024 GOAL winner, embodying the dedication, skill, and10
passion for excellence that the award seeks to honor; and11
WHEREAS, the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction is bestowed12
upon technical college instructors who demonstrate exceptional teaching abilities, making13
significant contributions to the education of Georgia's skilled workforce; and14

WHEREAS, Sharoko Farley, an instructor from Central Georgia Technical College, has been
15
distinguished as the 2024 recipient of the Rick Perkins Award, showcasing exemplary16
dedication to student success and instructional excellence; and17
WHEREAS, the Dinah Culbreath Wayne Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education18
(EAGLE) Award recognizes extraordinary achievements within the state's adult education19
programs, highlighting individuals who have overcome challenges to pursue lifelong learning20
and literacy; and21
WHEREAS, Patria Brown, recognized for exceptional academic achievements within her22
local education program at Cobb County School District, has been honored as TCSG's 202423
Adult Education Student of the Year, reflecting the perseverance, hard work, and24
commitment to personal and professional growth that the EAGLE Award celebrates; and25
WHEREAS, the Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year award acknowledges the26
vital role of educators in adult learning, recognizing those who provide inspiration, support,27
and high-quality instruction to their students; and28
WHEREAS, Rhea Brashear, an adult education instructor from Southern Regional Technical29
College, has been awarded the 2024 Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year,30
demonstrating exceptional teaching and mentoring abilities that contribute to the success and31
empowerment of adult learners.32
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that33
the members of this body recognize and commend the 2024 Technical College System of34
Georgia award winners and do hereby congratulate Nicholas Rucker, Sharoko Farley, Patria35
Brown, and Rhea Brashear on their prestigious achievements.36

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized

and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to38
Nicholas Rucker, Sharoko Farley, Patria Brown, and Rhea Brashear.39
