25 LC 112 3087 House Resolution 306 By: Representatives McQueen of the 61 st , Willis of the 55 th , Bazemore of the 69 th , Dawson of the 65 th , and Glaize of the 67 th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Mother Hattie Lou Prothro-Newton; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Mother Hattie Lou Prothro-Newton; and3 WHEREAS, Mother Hattie Lou Prothro-Newton was born on August 1, 1936, in Zatella,4 Georgia, as the first of 13 children, and the strength, wisdom, and love she displayed in her5 early years set the foundation for a life dedicated to service, family, and community; and6 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mother Hattie Lou Prothro-Newton served7 as a devout member of Holy Zion Center of Deliverance, where she worked in good8 conscience under Bishop Cecil Newton; and9 WHEREAS, she was cherished by her fellow congregants as a prayer-anointed warrior who10 stood in the gap for others, offering unwavering support, kindness, and guidance to those in11 need; and12 H. R. 306 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3087 WHEREAS, a woman of many talents and boundless charity, she dedicated 30 years of her 13 life as a dietitian and nutritionist for Fulton County Schools, ensuring that countless children14 received nutritious meals to support their growth and education; and15 WHEREAS, Mother Hattie Lou Prothro-Newton found joy in a variety of pastimes,16 including reading, fishing, traveling, and singing Gospel music, using her voice to spread17 warmth and inspiration to those around her; and18 WHEREAS, even in her later years, she embraced adventure and exploration, most recently19 traveling to Dubai in December 2024 to witness the marvels of God's creation; and20 WHEREAS, a kind and compassionate mother, she nurtured and guided her four children21 with steadfast, unconditional love, instilling in them the values of faith, integrity, and22 character; and23 WHEREAS, Mother Hattie Lou Prothro-Newton will long be remembered for her love of24 family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of25 knowing her.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mother Hattie Lou28 Prothro-Newton and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the31 family of Mother Hattie Lou Prothro-Newton.32 H.
