| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Literacy is dedicated to improving literacy from birth3 |

| 15 | 15 | | through adulthood and recognizes that communities play a critical role in addressing low4 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | literacy rates; and5 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, the Georgia Reads Community Award was established to recognize6 |

| 18 | 18 | | communities across Georgia that have formed partnerships of two or more organizations,7 |

| 19 | 19 | | sustained for at least three years, with a strategic plan and measurable results in literacy8 |

| 20 | 20 | | improvement; and9 |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Marietta City Schools is a recipient of the Georgia Reads Community Award10 |

| 22 | 22 | | for its city-wide collaboration Literacy & Justice For All, which began in Marietta to support11 |

| 23 | 23 | | language and literacy from the third trimester of pregnancy through age five, with the goal12 |
