1616 Designating the month of March as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month; and for other

1818 purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, autoimmune diseases impact thousands of Georgians each year,3
2020 disproportionately affecting women and people of color, but awareness and understanding4
2121 of these diseases remains low; and5
2222 WHEREAS, recognizing autoimmune diseases during the month of March will help raise6
2323 public awareness, encourage early detection and diagnosis, and support research and policy7
2424 initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes; and8
2525 WHEREAS, designating the month of March as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month 9
2626 will demonstrate the State of Georgia's commitment to health equity and highlight its10
2727 dedication to supporting Georgians facing these chronic, often invisible, illnesses.11
2828 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that12
2929 the members of this body:13
3030 (1) Designate March of each year as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month in the State14
3131 of Georgia;15

3434 (2) Encourage officials and departments of state, county, and municipal governments,

3636 businesses, and all citizens to participate in appropriate programs and activities that17
3737 facilitate increased awareness and education about autoimmune diseases throughout each18
3838 March to commemorate Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month; and19
3939 (3) Respectfully request the Governor to issue annually a proclamation recognizing20
4040 March in the State of Georgia as Autoimmune Awareness Month and call upon the21
4141 people in the State of Georgia to observe the month with appropriate programs and22
4242 activities.23
4343 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24
4444 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to25
4545 Governor Brian Kemp and the public and the press.26
