25 LC 60 0118 House Resolution 463 By: Representatives Baker of the 64 th , Stinson of the 150 th , Davis of the 87 th , Taylor of the 92 nd , Bennett of the 94 th , and others A RESOLUTION Designating the month of March as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month; and for other 1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, autoimmune diseases impact thousands of Georgians each year,3 disproportionately affecting women and people of color, but awareness and understanding4 of these diseases remains low; and5 WHEREAS, recognizing autoimmune diseases during the month of March will help raise6 public awareness, encourage early detection and diagnosis, and support research and policy7 initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes; and8 WHEREAS, designating the month of March as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month 9 will demonstrate the State of Georgia's commitment to health equity and highlight its10 dedication to supporting Georgians facing these chronic, often invisible, illnesses.11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that12 the members of this body:13 (1) Designate March of each year as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month in the State14 of Georgia;15 H. R. 463 - 1 - 25 LC 60 0118 (2) Encourage officials and departments of state, county, and municipal governments, 16 businesses, and all citizens to participate in appropriate programs and activities that17 facilitate increased awareness and education about autoimmune diseases throughout each18 March to commemorate Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month; and19 (3) Respectfully request the Governor to issue annually a proclamation recognizing20 March in the State of Georgia as Autoimmune Awareness Month and call upon the21 people in the State of Georgia to observe the month with appropriate programs and22 activities.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to25 Governor Brian Kemp and the public and the press.26 H.
