A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of March as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month; and for other

purposes.2
WHEREAS, autoimmune diseases impact thousands of Georgians each year,3
disproportionately affecting women and people of color, but awareness and understanding4
of these diseases remains low; and5
WHEREAS, recognizing autoimmune diseases during the month of March will help raise6
public awareness, encourage early detection and diagnosis, and support research and policy7
initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes; and8
WHEREAS, designating the month of March as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month 9
will demonstrate the State of Georgia's commitment to health equity and highlight its10
dedication to supporting Georgians facing these chronic, often invisible, illnesses.11
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that12
the members of this body:13
(1)  Designate March of each year as Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month in the State14
of Georgia;15

(2)  Encourage officials and departments of state, county, and municipal governments,

businesses, and all citizens to participate in appropriate programs and activities that17
facilitate increased awareness and education about autoimmune diseases throughout each18
March to commemorate Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month; and19
(3)  Respectfully request the Governor to issue annually a proclamation recognizing20
March in the State of Georgia as Autoimmune Awareness Month and call upon the21
people in the State of Georgia to observe the month with appropriate programs and22
activities.23
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to25
Governor Brian Kemp and the public and the press.26
