1919 WHEREAS, sex trafficking is a form of modern day slavery wherein people profit from the3
2020 control and exploitation of others and is a horrific crime perpetrated against women and4
2121 children; and5
2222 WHEREAS, in 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received more6
2323 than 18,400 reports of possible child sex trafficking; and7
2424 WHEREAS, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates that 1 in 68
2525 of the more than 28,800 cases of children reported missing in 2023 were likely victims of9
2626 child sex trafficking; and10
2727 WHEREAS, the latest numbers from the United States National Human Trafficking Hotline11
2828 indicate that 10,359 situations of human trafficking were reported in a year, involving 16,55412

3232 WHEREAS, Georgia ranks second in number of calls to the National Human Trafficking

3434 Hotline per capita, which shows that efforts to educate the public on signs of trafficking are15
3535 successful and should be ongoing; and16
3636 WHEREAS, the average age of entry into commercial sexual exploitation for minors served17
3737 by Street Grace in Georgia is 14 years old; and18
3838 WHEREAS, Street Grace has served minor sex trafficking victims from 80 counties in19
3939 Georgia; and20
4040 WHEREAS, Street Grace has provided services to more than 5,600 exploited individuals;21
4141 and22
4242 WHEREAS, grassroots activists will gather at the state capitol on February 11, 2025, to raise23
4343 awareness about the need to end sex trafficking in Georgia; and24
4444 WHEREAS, Street Grace has worked to organize and empower tens of thousands of25
4545 grassroots activists across the State of Georgia to end sex trafficking.26
4646 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
4747 the members of this body recognize February 11, 2025, as Sex Trafficking Awareness Day28
4848 at the state capitol.29
4949 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
5050 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Street31
5151 Grace.32
