A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 11, 2025, as Sex Trafficking Awareness Day at the state capitol; and

for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, sex trafficking is a form of modern day slavery wherein people profit from the3
control and exploitation of others and is a horrific crime perpetrated against women and4
children; and5
WHEREAS, in 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received more6
than 18,400 reports of possible child sex trafficking; and7
WHEREAS, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates that 1 in 68
of the more than 28,800 cases of children reported missing in 2023 were likely victims of9
child sex trafficking; and10
WHEREAS, the latest numbers from the United States National Human Trafficking Hotline11
indicate that 10,359 situations of human trafficking were reported in a year, involving 16,55412
individual victims; and13

WHEREAS, Georgia ranks second in number of calls to the National Human Trafficking

Hotline per capita, which shows that efforts to educate the public on signs of trafficking are15
successful and should be ongoing; and16
WHEREAS, the average age of entry into commercial sexual exploitation for minors served17
by Street Grace in Georgia is 14 years old; and18
WHEREAS, Street Grace has served minor sex trafficking victims from 80 counties in19
Georgia; and20
WHEREAS, Street Grace has provided services to more than 5,600 exploited individuals;21
and22
WHEREAS, grassroots activists will gather at the state capitol on February 11, 2025, to raise23
awareness about the need to end sex trafficking in Georgia; and24
WHEREAS, Street Grace has worked to organize and empower tens of thousands of25
grassroots activists across the State of Georgia to end sex trafficking.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
the members of this body recognize February 11, 2025, as Sex Trafficking Awareness Day28
at the state capitol.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Street31
Grace.32
