1616 Recognizing and commending Scott Maxwell on the occasion of his retirement; and for other

1818 purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, Scott Maxwell has rendered decades of exceptional service across the public3
2020 and private sectors, using his extensive media and legislative experience, strategic insight,4
2121 and relationships with decision-makers at all levels of government to influence public policy5
2222 and support clients throughout Georgia and beyond; and6
2323 WHEREAS, he is the founding principal of Mathews & Maxwell Inc., a respected7
2424 governmental affairs consulting firm he co-founded in 1997 that has twice been named the8
2525 most effective small governmental affairs firm in Georgia by James Magazine; and9
2626 WHEREAS, during his tenure at Mathews & Maxwell, he has led the development of short-10
2727 and long-term strategies to help clients achieve success in legislative, procurement, and11
2828 regulatory matters, representing sectors such as agribusiness, construction, healthcare,12
2929 manufacturing, transportation, and state procurement; and13
3030 WHEREAS, his consulting work has involved drafting policy papers, managing issue14
3131 education campaigns, testifying before legislative committees, monitoring the work of15

3434 advisory groups and executive boards, and developing media strategies to address public

3636 perception challenges; and17
3737 WHEREAS, he has further devoted nearly six years to public service in Washington, D.C.,18
3838 serving in multiple roles for United States Senator Sam Nunn and handling media19
3939 responsibilities for the Senate Armed Services Committee, where Senator Nunn served as20
4040 chairman; and21
4141 WHEREAS, his public service experience also includes work as assistant press secretary for22
4242 the Ginn for Governor Campaign in 1982, reading clerk for the Georgia State Senate in 1981,23
4343 and disaster public information officer for the United States Small Business Administration24
4444 from 1979 to 1980; and25
4545 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this26
4646 remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately recognized.27
4747 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28
4848 the members of this body recognize and commend Scott Maxwell for his decades of29
4949 exemplary career service; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and30
5050 extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.31
5151 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32
5252 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Scott33
5353 Maxwell.34
