25 LC 112 3491 House Resolution 718 By: Representatives Greene of the 154 th , Hawkins of the 27 th , Taylor of the 173 rd , Efstration of the 104 th , Powell of the 33 rd , and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Scott Maxwell on the occasion of his retirement; and for other 1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Scott Maxwell has rendered decades of exceptional service across the public3 and private sectors, using his extensive media and legislative experience, strategic insight,4 and relationships with decision-makers at all levels of government to influence public policy5 and support clients throughout Georgia and beyond; and6 WHEREAS, he is the founding principal of Mathews & Maxwell Inc., a respected7 governmental affairs consulting firm he co-founded in 1997 that has twice been named the8 most effective small governmental affairs firm in Georgia by James Magazine; and9 WHEREAS, during his tenure at Mathews & Maxwell, he has led the development of short-10 and long-term strategies to help clients achieve success in legislative, procurement, and11 regulatory matters, representing sectors such as agribusiness, construction, healthcare,12 manufacturing, transportation, and state procurement; and13 WHEREAS, his consulting work has involved drafting policy papers, managing issue14 education campaigns, testifying before legislative committees, monitoring the work of15 H. R. 718 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3491 advisory groups and executive boards, and developing media strategies to address public 16 perception challenges; and17 WHEREAS, he has further devoted nearly six years to public service in Washington, D.C.,18 serving in multiple roles for United States Senator Sam Nunn and handling media19 responsibilities for the Senate Armed Services Committee, where Senator Nunn served as20 chairman; and21 WHEREAS, his public service experience also includes work as assistant press secretary for22 the Ginn for Governor Campaign in 1982, reading clerk for the Georgia State Senate in 1981,23 and disaster public information officer for the United States Small Business Administration24 from 1979 to 1980; and25 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this26 remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately recognized.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body recognize and commend Scott Maxwell for his decades of29 exemplary career service; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and30 extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Scott33 Maxwell.34 H.
