66 Honoring the life and memory of Paul Zucca; and for other purposes.

88 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
99 with the passing of Paul Zucca on October 31, 2024; and3
1010 WHEREAS, Paul Zucca was a dedicated advocate for Grant Park and Southeast Atlanta who4
1111 served on numerous committees, boards, and organizations at the city, county, and state5
1212 levels to improve the community; and6
1313 WHEREAS, after moving from Midtown, he served as president of the Grant Park7
1414 Neighborhood Association and later as chairman of Neighborhood Planning Unit-W, helping8
1515 to strengthen bonds among East Atlanta, SAND, and Grant Park while securing resources9
1616 to support local growth; and10
1717 WHEREAS, he was an early supporter of the Neighborhood Charter School and the Atlanta11
1818 Charter Middle School before their merger, believing that all children deserved access to12
1919 quality education; and13

2222 WHEREAS, he further served as a longtime representative for Zoo Atlanta, advocating for

2424 its promotion and preservation as a vital neighborhood asset; and15
2525 WHEREAS, he was united in love to his life partner of 47 years, John Newcomb, and the16
2626 two were blessed with a remarkable son, Dylan; and17
2727 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern18
2828 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his19
2929 family and friends were admired by others; and20
3030 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation21
3131 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he22
3232 made this world a better place in which to live; and23
3333 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Paul Zucca will long be remembered for24
3434 his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great25
3535 fortune of knowing him.26
3636 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27
3737 join in honoring the life and memory of Paul Zucca and express their deepest and most28
3838 sincere regret at his passing.29
3939 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed30
4040 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Paul31
4141 Zucca.32
