66 Honoring the life and memory of Phillip Hampton Sims; and for other purposes.

88 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
99 with the passing of Phillip Hampton Sims on February 7, 2025; and 3
1010 WHEREAS, Phillip Hampton Sims was born in 1956 in Forest Park, Georgia, to the late4
1111 H.B. Sims and Theresa Staples Sims; and5
1212 WHEREAS, he and his family moved to Tyrone, Georgia, in 1966 and put down roots on a6
1313 gorgeous farm; and7
1414 WHEREAS, after college, he opened a family business, S&S Glass, in Tyrone and served8
1515 the community at the College Park Fire Department, where he was a fireman for 26 years,9
1616 retiring in 2007; and 10
1717 WHEREAS, he will be remembered for his big fish personality, providing an endless source11
1818 of stories; for his desire to not only embrace the outdoors but to instill that passion in others;12
1919 and for his selfless, unconditional love of family and friends, for whom he was always13
2020 willing to provide anything he could.14

2323 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body

2525 join in honoring the life and memory of Phillip Hampton Sims and express their deepest and16
2626 most sincere regret at his passing.17
2727 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed18
2828 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of19
2929 Phillip Hampton Sims.20
